LOLA GOES TO ROMA

Based on Josefina Lopez’s play dedicated to her own mother. It's about what we leave unsaid.

What inspired the story?
It’s a love letter to the secret inner lives of the women we think we already know — mothers, daughters, friends. It's about what we leave unsaid.

Why Rome?
Rome is history and faith and chaos — just like family. It's the perfect city for a pilgrimage that accidentally becomes an awakening.

How much of it is autobiographical?
It’s emotionally autobiographical. The longing, the tension between generations, the unspoken sacrifices — those are all real.

Why mix comedy with drama?
Because real life is funny and heartbreaking in the same breath. Especially with family.
